This is paradise for bird watchers and animal lovers. The Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is made up of a group of chained inland waterways which cover the Northern Lagoon. The size of the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is around 3,000 acres. A cool thing that you can do in Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is travel to the lagoon just by kayaking or canoeing. When you go through this route, you will be able to see iguanas, crocs, coatis and even turtles, especially during mating season. The rarest and anticipated visitor to Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is the Jabiru stork which only shows up during November and May. For directions, you can turn west off Northern Highway at a place called Mile 30.8 then you drive 2 miles or 3 kilometer there.

The Hummingbird Highway is located in Belmopan. The way to Hummingbird Highway is paved road so it is a nice leisure drive. It is said that Hummingbird Highway is one of the most scenic routes in Belize. The road cuts 54 miles southeast and goes straight through the Maya Mountains to a place called Dangriga. When you take the Hummingbird Highway, you will pass by 5 Blues Lake and Blue Hole national park. Go and find time to visit and check out these treasures as well which we are sure you will enjoy. You will see mile markers in Hummingbird Highway when you see Dangriga.

In about an hour going south of Belmopan, you will see a 575 acre St. Herman’s Blue Hole Natural Park. This place is amazing as you can see a natural turquoise pool which is surrounded by mosses and amazingly rich flora and fauna. So, go ahead and take a dip in this blue pool.

This is the queen caye of all cayes in Belize. It has 5,000 islands and the town which serves as its center is called San Pedro. This island is said to have the highest literacy in the country and because of good education, locals know how valuable it is for them to protect the island.
